As we come to the final two chapters in our study of Esther here are
Questions to Ponder:
1. Warren Wiersbe says about Esther chapter 10, "This brief chapter tells us that Mordecai, unlike his predecessor Haman, used his office to serve the king and help the Jews.
Sometimes when people are elevated to high office, they forget their roots and ignore the needs of the common people. Mordecai wasn't that kind of man. Even though his political deeds are recorded in the official annals of the empire, what he did for his people has been recorded by the Lord and will be rewarded. Can you think of examples from your own experience where someone was elevated to a high office and 'forgot the little peole', as it were? How can we, as believers, stay focused on our roots in Christ when given positions of influence and power?
2. In what ways, if any, are you striving for faithfulness where your parents or those who discipled you failed? (Landon Dowden)
3. What reversals, if any, have you seen the Lord bring about in your journey? How have you seen Him to turn to good what others intended for your harm? (Landon Dowden)
4. The struggle against enemies produced unity among God's people. How should our struggles against the flesh, the world, and the devil produce the same in us? What things prevent us from uniting in His battles? (Landon Dowden)
5. Are there parts of the Esther story that you have difficulty with? What can you do to better understand this story and God's role in it?
6. In what ways has our journey through the book of Esther and seeing how God uses imperfect people to accomplish His perfect plans encouraged you? How has it been helpful? (Landon Dowden)
7. Take a moment to reflect on all that you've learned in your study of Esther. Think about what lessons God has taught you. Reflect on the issues you need to work on in your life. Do you need to develop a greater confidence in the way God is writing your story?
